Dr. Leo Chen is the founder of Emerald Coast Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who treats the full spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions, with a focus on sports injuries, joint replacement, fracture care, arthroscopy, and hand surgery. Dr. Leo Chen built his practice around a single principle: independent, patient-first orthopaedic care where the surgeon you meet at the first visit is the surgeon who performs your procedure and follows you through recovery.
Dr. Leo Chen earned his Doctor of Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital (TOSH) in Salt Lake City, one of the top sports medicine training programs in the country. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, which informs how he runs an efficient, independent practice on the Emerald Coast.
Dr. Leo Chen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and stays current with the latest surgical techniques and non-operative treatment options. He believes that surgery should be the last resort, not the first, and works with each patient to build a treatment plan that fits their lifestyle, activity level, and recovery goals.
